Some people are calling liberals, "Anti-American." And they are calling for the media to investigate all of congress to find out who the Anti-American people are.
But are not Americans "free" to think and say what they want? I mean, isn't that a part of being a "free" citizen? If so, then the only "anti-Americans" would be those who don't want people to be free to think and say whatever they want. Right?

You are right. I have been following this story the past few hours and it's interesting to say the least. The philosophy is you are only an American if you go along with the GOP. Glad to see that people are fed up with that line of thinking. We are going to be hearing more of this sort of thing from the GOP because they are going down and this sort of thought is the only way to stir up Nationalism. The way I see it is certain groups of people have stole the term "Being American" for deeds of greed and now is the time to take our country back and be real Americans. People who care enough to fight for those who are overlooked right here at home. If that is "Anti-American" then we are dead as a society.
ReplyDeleteI don't like Liberals or Conservatives. I agree with some of what both say. I do not like how the liberals want to take away guns. The right to self defense is a human right, and my life and my family are worth too much to let it be decided by the whim of some murderer. People can deal with you one of two ways, diplomatically, or forcefully. I gun takes away the force equation, so they have to deal with me with civility. What he anti gunners will never understand is that it is not just a chunk of metal and wood. It stands for independence, self sufficiency, and the ability to stand up for yourself. But with rights comes responsibilities. If you own a gun, you have the responsibility to take the training, and know when and where to use it, as well as the associated other tasks. What too many liberals, and conservatives forget is that the responsibilities come with rights. I will be voting for McCain this election, because Obama stands opposite to too many of my core beliefs.

ReplyDeleteThe problem here is that what you believe about Obama is not really Obama. You listen to the likes of Fox News to get your info about Obama, but Fox news is lying to you. You said that liberals want to take your guns away. But, that's just not true. Liberals only want to regulate who owns guns so to keep them out of the hands of criminals and other wackos. It is the Gun lobbyists who say that liberals want to take away guns to scare you, because they know that more people will just not buy guns, if they have to deal with regulations.
Actually, I don't watch TV. Gun control doesn't work, criminals aren't going to obey the laws anyways, more laws aren't going to help. Even with all the laws they have now, getting a gun illegally is easy. It's not the gun lobbyists telling me this, anyways. I know plenty of liberals on my campus that basically say they want no one to have guns. They think laws against guns will stop crime, when all it does is disarm honest citizens. Even if all guns were illegalized, it is not difficult to build one in a machine shop. The problem I have with most liberals is that it seems like they are living in some kind of fantasyland. Not that I love conservatives, either, their greed and love of capitalism above humanity has caused many problems, environmental and otherwise. Unfortunately, neither candidate is a good choice, and that is sad when it comes down to picking the one who is less bad.

ReplyDeleteas for gun rights, i'm liberal, and i believe that when guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns. the only way to reduce gun violence is to reduce the reasons for gun violence, like the need/compulsion to steal to get money.
